Medicine Man Gallery is pleased to present Susan Kliewer's completed sculpture,Maria of San Ildefonso which commemorates the life and work of one of the most influential Native American potters who ever lived. Perfectly portraying Maria's serene spirit, Kliewer shows the artist at work, finishing her exquisite pottery. Maria is a collaboration between Kliewer and Medicine Man Gallery President, Mark Sublette. After discussing the basic concept over lunch last spring, Kliewer developed a perfect rendering of the famed potter. A feature article on the sculpture will appear in the January 2001 issue of Southwest Art magazine. The sculpture is on display at both the Tucson and Santa Fe galleries, and several pieces in the edition of 45 were sold pre-cast. Call today to reserve your sculpture and pay tribute to one of the most important potters in the history of pueblo pottery making.
